Welcome! My name is Dr Claudia Hallett and I’m a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in South-East London.
I know that finding a therapist can be tricky, so let me tell you a bit about myself and the way I practice to help you work out if we’d be a good fit.
Throughout my career, I have trained in multiple psychotherapeutic approaches, but I’ve chosen to specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as this psychological model has the best evidence-base for treating depression, anxiety and trauma disorders.
In terms of my qualifications, I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies, taking me from competent to expert in delivering CBT.
Alongside private practice, I hold an NHS post as the Clinical lead for the Depersonalisation Disorder Service at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma at South London and the Maudsley NHS Trust.
I am really passionate about helping people who are struggling with their mental health by providing evidence based, gold standard, short-term CBT, as recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Although I enjoy working with a range of disorders, my specialisms are in helping people with depersonalisation/derealisation disorders and women in the perinatal period.
In my work with clients I aim to:
Create a therapy space where clients feel they can speak freely and openly
Help clients work out what has triggered their current period of difficulty
Recognise what might be keeping their problem going by looking at behaviours and thinking patterns that have become habits
Find out what clients would like to be different in their lives and help them to put these changes into practice
Help clients create a mental wellbeing tool-kit to help them manage set-backs in the future
If this sounds like something that you’d be interested in, then I’d love to hear from you in the Contact page.
Please note, my clinic is specifically for adults (aged 18 upwards).
